So I’m a rocker, huh?
December 21, 2007
We live in a media society. “What kind of music you listen to?” is an everyday question. And the answer can lead to contradictions. I’m a drummer, and as a musician I just “feel responsible” for keeping music alive. No matter what style it belongs to. However, I have a tendency to answer the given question with “rock”. Well, when I say rock I usually think that I love head banging and that I love the rhythm of it (bumm-tzoom-bumm-bumm)
.However, no matter what style that particular track belongs to, the most important factor is lyrics. So I don’t care whether it’s Shania Twain or Mariah Carey, or even BeyoncĂ©, as far as they sing about something.. ethically correct. Yayz, I freakin can’t put my opinion into words now. What I want to actually say is that I’m not satanist by any means. And also not emo. And also not goth. And I’m not punk either. So I can’t stand lyrics like “so am I still waiting for this world to stop hating/can’t find a good reason, can’t find hope to believe in”, even if Sum 41′s music sounds pretty cool. Rolling Stones, Guns’n'Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers – they’re the cool guys, and I could say a few others.. Metallica’s fine too, however they sometimes jump over “my barrier”. Black Sabbath.. you see, my style isn’t that easy to distinguish. Feel free to share what you think.
